Manmohan Singh's Body To Be Kept At Congress Office: Updates

The last rites of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who died on Thursday, will be conducted with State honours at 11:45am at the Nigambodh Ghat crematorium in Delhi on Saturday, the Union Home Ministry said on Friday. 

The mortal remains of Singh will be kept at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters for an hour from 8.30am for the people and Congress workers to pay their obeisance. His final journey will commence from the headquarters to the cremation ground at 9.30am, party general secretary K C Venugopal said.

Singh died at Delhi's AIIMS hospital on Thursday. He was 92.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge were among the top leaders who paid homage to Singh at his residence in the Capital on Friday. 

Leaders cutting across party lines also paid their last respects to the former prime minister. Condolences also poured in from across the globe, including from the US, Canada, France and Sri Lanka.
